That’s because they probably didn’t know that it was Hermione who used the spell. It could have been anyone in Diagon Alley.
Dumbledore has said that the Ministry can’t tell who exactly uses magic in a given area, only that it has been used, and that the Ministry relies on wizard and witch parents to enforce the ban on underage magic within their homes. And they can’t use it in the presence of Muggles or in a Muggle-inhabited area, which is how Harry got caught. But since Diagon Alley is free of Muggles, it’s fine.
If you’re around adult wizards there is no way for the ministry to know that an underaged wizard is doing magic. The reason they knew to charge Harry with underage magic was because he was in a muggle household and so any magic taking place was automatically attributed to him.
The Ministry of Magic only knows where magic is taking place, not who is casting the spell. For instance, when they found out that in Harry’s house, a spell was cast (by Dobby), they immediately though it had to be Harry since he is the only wizard in the area. However, Hermione was in Diagon Alley, which is full of wizarding adults. So, they had no clue who was casting the charm.
from one nerd to another; because they can’t tell if an underaged wizard did magic if there are wizards of age around. they knew when harry did magic because he was the only wizard in his house, but if he was to do a spell in, say, the burrow, they wouldn’t be able to identify who had done it, and would assume it was just mr. or mrs. weasly.
I’ll give you two answers, and you can choose the one you like the best.
Reparo is a simple spell, and very minor. Without the intense scrutiny on the Boy-Who-Lived, she could get away with it, since she was in a place where no Muggle could see her do magic.
Second option: An oversight by the author and the editors, who simply didn’t think about it. Please note that no one in the books had any problem with the Degree of Underage Magic except Harry. I think that if you are not a super famous Boy-Who-Lived, they tend to overlook minor things.
According to the book it was Mr.Weasley who repaired Harry’s glasses and not Hermione. They try to make Emma watson do every spell in the movies and that’s so stupid.
because she doesnt actually do that in the book, it was a mistake made by the film
she really fixes them on the train in the philosophers stone and in diagon alley mr weasley fixes them if im not mistaken
