Harry Potter & Sorcerer’s Stone (2001)
Amazon.com essential video
Here’s an event movie that holds up to being an event. This filmed version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, adapted from the wildly popular book by J.K. Rowling, stunningly brings to life Harry Potter’s world of Hogwarts, the school for young witches and wizards. The greatest strength of the film comes from its faithfulness to the novel, and this new cinematic world is filled with all the details of Rowling’s imagination, thanks to exuberant sets, elaborate costumes, clever makeup and visual effects, and a crme de la crme cast, including Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, Alan Rickman, and more. Especially fine is the interplay between Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and his schoolmates Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson), as well as his protector, the looming Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane). The second-half adventure–involving the titular sorcerer’s stone–doesn’t translate perfectly from page to screen, ultimately because of the film’s fid (more…)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Widescreen Edition) (2007)
Amazon.com
Alas! The fifth Harry Potter film has arrived. The time is long past that this can be considered a simple “children’s” series–though children and adults alike will enjoy it immensely. Starting off from the dark and tragic ending of the fourth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix begins in a somber and angst-filled tone that carries through the entire 138 minutes (the shortest of any HP movie despite being adapted from the longest book). Hopes of winning the Quidditch Cup have been replaced by woes like government corruption, distorted media spin, and the casualties of war. As the themes have matured, so have the primary characters’ acting abilities. Ron (Rupert Grint), Hermione (Emma Watson), and especially Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) are more convincing than ever–in roles that are more demanding. Harry is deeply traumatized from having witnessed Cedric Diggory’s murder, but he will soon find that this was just another chapter in the continuing loss he (more…)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Book 2) (Hardcover)
Amazon.com Review
It’s hard to fall in love with an earnest, appealing young hero like Harry Potter and then to watch helplessly as he steps into terrible danger! And in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the much anticipated sequel to the award-winning Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, he is in terrible danger indeed. As if it’s not bad enough that after a long summer with the horrid Dursleys he is thwarted in his attempts to hop the train to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to begin his second year. But when his only transportation option is a magical flying car, it is just his luck to crash into a valuable (but clearly vexed) Whomping Willow. Still, all this seems like a day in the park compared to what happens that fall within the haunted halls of Hogwarts. Chilling, malevolent voices whisper from the walls only to Harry, and it seems certain that his classmate Draco Malfoy is out to get him. Soon it’s not just Ha (more…)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) (Hardcover)
Amazon.com Review
Readers beware. The brilliant, breathtaking conclusion to J.K. Rowling’s spellbinding series is not for the faint of heart–such revelations, battles, and betrayals await in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that no fan will make it to the end unscathed. Luckily, Rowling has prepped loyal readers for the end of her series by doling out increasingly dark and dangerous tales of magic and mystery, shot through with lessons about honor and contempt, love and loss, and right and wrong. Fear not, you will find no spoilers in our review–to tell the plot would ruin the journey, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is an odyssey the likes of which Rowling’s fans have not yet seen, and are not likely to forget. But we would be remiss if we did not offer one small suggestion before you embark on your final adventure with Harry–bring plenty of tissues. The heart of Book 7 is a hero’s mission–not just in Harry’s quest for the Horcruxes, but in his journey (more…)

Who is going to give the answer to the Harry Potter movie, see inside?
I am definitely not a Harry potter fan but, why would anybody want to give out that kind of information when they can simply go and get the book and find out for themselves instead of having ruined it for those who haven’t read it ? Where would the sense be ? You Harry Potter fans, break down and do yourself a favor and get the book and stop asking for the answer. The question has been asked for days now, let it go, already.
Excuse me book, I’m sorry.

Why is it so hard for me to understand Harry Potter books?
When Harry Potter first came out, it sounded interesting and fun. Someone had given me his first book as a gift. I tried to read it, but it was so boring that I couldn’t get past chapter 1. I’m not into science fiction that much, but I do have some books that may be science fiction: Roald Dahl’s Matilda, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator; The Girl with the Silver Eyes by Willo Davis Roberts, and Madeline L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time and A Wind in the Door. I love these books and have kept them up to now, but I tossed out Harry Potter after it sat on my shelf for years without being opened.
Any suggestions on how I can understand Harry Potter better?

Can you answer these Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban questions?
I’ve read all of the Harry Potter books and have seen all of the movies. I’m rereading the series again and popping up with A LOT of questions. Can anyone help? These are just for Book 3:
1) Why is Proffesor Lupin the only proffesor to take the Hogwarts Express to Hogwarts?
2) How long is the train ride to Hogwarts?
3) Why doesn’t Dumbledore allow Proffesor Snape to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts? Surely Dumbledore isn’t worried about the superstition of the job being jinxed (therefore preventing anything tragic from happening to Severus Snape)?
4) What does a Gamekeeper do exactly?

Completely entertained and satisfied
A typical comment:
This is a great set for anyone who wants to read the series. It does not include book 7, so if you are looking for the complete set, then this isn’t the set for you. The books are awesome, and are a must read for anyone who liked the movies.

How can the Harry Potter movies and book series be improved on?
maybe have more villains besides Voldemort? After is’nt having Harry Potter alway fight Voldemort in every movie getting old and tired? Maybe change the main location/setting to someplace else besides the world of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? How would you improve the movies or the books?
